Donald Trump’s Twitter account has been a flurry of easily verifiable lies since roughly 2013 — but ever since it became apparent that his former lawyer Michael Cohen was preparing to turn state’s evidence on him and likely testify against him, the volume of Trump’s scrambling to repair his public image has reached a fever pitch.

From obvious lies about the economy and the unemployment rate, to less obvious ones about foreign policy and a so-called “border crisis” he claims has precipitated his inhumane and cruel policies in the American southwest, Trump hasn’t slowed down even for one second since it became clear that he was likely going to suffer the consequences of having thrown Michael Cohen under the bus.

Today, Trump found a lawsuit that had been filed in federal court accusing him of conspiring with Russia to fix the 2016 election and prevent Hillary Clinton from being elected. When that lawsuit was thrown out, Trump did a dance of joy, in a manner of speaking, on his Twitter:

The only problem is, almost every word of that tweet is untrue, as pointed out by former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti.

According to Politico, in fact, US District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle was very specific when she threw the case out of her own courtroom, careful to say that her ruling was not based on any finding that there was no collusion.

“It bears emphasizing that this Court’s ruling is not based on a finding that there was no collusion between defendants and Russia during the 2016 presidential election. This is the wrong forum for plaintiffs’ lawsuit. The Court takes no position on the merits of plaintiffs’ claims.”

So much for Trump’s latest lie!
