Donald Trump continues to take credit for things he didn’t actually do and is now congratulating himself for accomplishing pretty much nothing.
Despite the fact that he has been bragging about his meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un for the last few weeks, the two leaders still have not come up with a firm agreement about how denuclearization will take place. But that didn’t stop Trump from gloating and praising himself on Twitter (along with many other things). Trump boasted about his success with Kim and trashed the “Opposition Party” and fake news (even though journalists in Maryland were just murdered a few days ago). Trump tweeted:
“Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well! In the meantime, no Rocket Launches or Nuclear Testing in 8 months. All of Asia is thrilled. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining. If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!”
Trump seems to be the only one celebrating his meeting with Kim – many skeptics have stated that the United States actually didn’t benefit from Trump’s little press stunt in Singapore at all. It’s even being reported that while Trump trusts Kim because they have great “chemistry,” North Korea is still making improvements to the country’s nuclear infrastructure, now limiting it to secret locations. That hardly sounds like the “winning” Trump is claiming in his tweet, but we have to remember that Trump’s standards are incredibly low.
Trump wants us to believe that North Korea is no longer a threat just because he thinks he’s best buddies with Kim now. Meanwhile, many political commentators have spoken out that Kim manipulated Trump with flattery, gave him a few compliments, and Trump was gullible enough to fall for it. Trump’s trust of Kim is based on nothing other than the fact that Kim was nice to him. Meanwhile, we still don’t have a plan for denuclearization.
Trump shouldn’t be on Twitter bragging about himself. He should be doing his damn job and figuring this mess out.
