Fox News invited Aaron Cohen, a former member of Israel’s counter-terror unit, to discuss the bombings that took place over the weekend in New York and New Jersey.
Cohen said that both law enforcement and the civilian population (especially concealed carry holders) should be trained on how to profile and identify suspicious people. He advocates for untrained, armed Americans to make split second decisions that could endanger themselves and others around him.
He explained how the suspect, Ahmad Rahami, should have stood out because he was walking in a gay neighborhood all “covered up” while sporting a beard.
Cohen noted that while not all Muslims are terrorists, all of the terrorist attacks have been committed by Muslims.

One thing Cohen is either ignorant of — or conveniently forgot to mention– is that the U.S. already profiles minorities. Both law enforcement and the civilian population continually profile black and Latinos thinking they are about to commit a crime.
In New York and New Jersey, black and Latino males are sometimes hassled by the police two or three times daily, and often forced to endure humiliating treatment for just walking outside. They then justify their scrutiny with numbers produced after thousands of empty police stops.
Now he wants Americans to add anyone who looks vaguely Islamic to the mix. Perhaps police or “concerned citizens” will start sitting outside of Mosques looking for excuses to “interact” with worshipers?
This is the kind of rhetoric that Fox News and Donald Trump spreads on a daily basis, and it’s up to the voters to stop at least half of it in November.
