In the wake of Donald Trump’s seditious statement requesting that Russia spy on former secretary of state and current Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and find what he says are 30,00o missing emails, a U.S senator has called on intelligence agencies to deny Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump access to sensitive national security information.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is advising all U.S intelligence agencies to deny Trump classified information that has the potential to endanger the United States. Reid said:
“How would the CIA and the other intelligence agencies brief this guy? How could they do that? I would suggest to the intelligence agencies, if you’re forced to brief this guy, don’t tell him anything, just fake it, because this man is dangerous. Fake it, pretend you’re doing a briefing, but you can’t give the guy any information. This guy, he’s part of a foreign power. We knew he liked Putin before this, but this is quite ridiculous.”
Intelligence officials are convinced that the hack of the Democratic National Committee’s emails were the work of Russian agents. The emails, which were released just prior to the Democratic National Convention, caused havoc between supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders after it was revealed that the Democratic establishment favored Clinton over Sanders for the Democratic nomination.
Trump immediately ceased on the opportunity to try and create division in the party and in a press conference called on Russia to spy on the former secretary of state and find more emails. Trump’s statement sent shockwaves throughout both the Democratic and Republican parties, with accusations of treason against the bombastic billionaire:
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the thirty thousand emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens.”
Trump apparently has deep admiration for Putin and likes his style of rule. Reid said:
“I guess the only way we can find out is perhaps Donald can call Putin and say, ‘what else do you have?’ We know there are connections between Putin and Trump. How do we know that? He said so. And I’ve never heard Putin deny it. In fact, he has done just the opposite.”
Trump should send shivers down the spines of American voters. He will do anything to gain power, including soliciting foreign agents to go after American institutions and government officials. The scary part is what he would do to America if he becomes president.
